AI search: how to prepare your store for AI Overviews and assistants
More and more purchases start with a question to an AI. The stores that provide clear, verifiable information are the ones those tools cite.
AI-generated summaries in Google and conversational assistants are changing the research phase of many purchases. Instead of visiting ten pages, the user asks “which subscription module works with PrestaShop 9 and SEPA” and gets an answer with a few cited sources.
What these tools look for
- Concrete, verifiable information: specifications, compatibility, prices, terms.
- Clear structure: headings, lists, comparison tables.
- Authority: who says it and why they know about it.
- Structured data that confirms what the text says.
What to do in your store
- Complete product pages: everything someone would ask before buying, answered on the product page itself.
- Real FAQs on product and category pages, based on your customers' questions.
- Expert content: guides and comparisons written by people who know the product, with a byline.
- Consistency: the same price and the same features on the product page, in the markup, in Google Merchant Center and on marketplaces.
- Accessible to crawlers: content in the HTML, not only loaded with JavaScript.
AI crawlers
You can decide in your robots.txt whether or not to allow crawling by the bots of the different AI companies. Blocking them stops them from using your content, but also from recommending you. It is a business decision, not a technical one.
