Product pages that rank (and sell)
Copying the manufacturer’s description is the quickest way to be invisible on Google. Here is what a product page needs to stand out.
A product page has two readers: Google, which decides whether to show it, and the customer, who decides whether to buy. The good news is that what works for one almost always works for the other.
Title
Product type + brand + model + distinguishing attribute. “Salomon Speedcross 6 women’s trail running shoe” ranks better than “Speedcross 6”.
Your own description
If you use the manufacturer’s text, you compete with hundreds of stores that have exactly the same one. Write about:
- Who it is for and what it is for.
- What sets it apart from the alternatives.
- The questions customers ask you about it, answered.
Structured features
Use PrestaShop features (material, dimensions, compatibility) instead of putting them in the text. They are shown in a table, feed the filters and can go into the structured data.
Images
- Several photos: product on its own, in use, detail, scale.
- Descriptive file names and alt text.
- Modern formats and the right size: the main image determines the page’s LCP.
Reviews
Reviews add unique content, answer objections and can show stars on Google if they are marked up correctly. Ask for a review a few days after delivery.
Structured data
Product markup with Offer (price, currency, availability) and, if there are real reviews, AggregateRating. We explain it in detail in another article.
