Free translation locator module and translator with Google extension

If you've ever wasted half an afternoon searching for where on earth a phrase from your store is stored, this module is for you. In PrestaShop, the same phrase can exist in six places at once, and only one is visible.

Search everywhere, at the same time

You type the phrase—in your language or in the original English—and the module simultaneously searches for it in:

• Database : the ps_translation table, including theme-specific translations.
• XLIFF catalogs : core, store, each module and each theme.
• Legacy files with md5 keys, including the classic case of a module translation hidden within the theme.
• Multilingual content : all tables *_lang —products, CMS, categories, order statuses, carriers—.
• Core, theme, and module email templates .
• The code itself : .tpl and .twig templates, controllers, classes, and JavaScript.

It tells you which one is in charge, and why.

Finding five copies of the same phrase is useless if you don't know which one is being used. Each result comes up with its exact path, domain, and a label indicating the layer that should be winning.

Translate without leaving the screen

Each result has its own edit field. You can save it to the database—which is recommended: it survives updates and takes precedence over any other file—or directly to the XLIFF or legacy file, when the translation needs to travel with the module.

Before touching a file, an automatic backup is saved, and the cache is cleaned automatically upon completion.

Mass translation with Google Translate

The second screen loads all the strings from a module, theme, or core, keeps the untranslated ones, and sends them to a separate translation sheet. You run the Google Translate browser extension, click a button, and the translations automatically return to the table, ready to be reviewed and saved in bulk.

Details that make the difference

• It also searches in English even if you don't have it installed. PrestaShop always writes the original strings in English: the module checks the default and en-US catalogs no matter what.
• Find by hash. In legacy files, the keys are MD5. The module calculates the hash of what you're looking for and matches the exact entry.
• It detects fixed strings. If a phrase is written directly into a template and doesn't go through the translator, it tells you instead of leaving you searching forever.
• Integrated user guide in Spanish, English and Italian, within the module itself.
• No overrides. It does not modify the core or overwrite PrestaShop classes.
