You create a bot on Telegram

Setup instructions. Estimated time: 3 minutes

  1. Install module in your PrestaShop store
  2. To create a bot on Telegram, send the message /newbot to BotFather (@BotFather). Then, enter the desired name and finally the username, which will be the same as the name but ending with "bot". We recommend something like bot_name. create a bot
  3. We send a message to that bot, whatever we want, but it is necessary to start a conversation.
  4. We create a group to which we add the bot we just created and preferably give it administrative permissions so that it can write
  5. We write whatever it is in the group again
  6. From a browser we execute this URL changing for the token that was generated when you created the BOT https://api.telegram.org/bot /getUpdates It will be something like this: https://api.telegram.org/bot11234567890:AAAAAAr22z0AAA8hAA53AaaAOtuVsCBoQ4M/getUpdates
  7. From there you'll get the group's chat ID. Note that it usually starts with a hyphen (-). Don't forget it.
  8. You've probably already guessed that the data you need to include in the config module is
  • The name of the bot (The first one is the one that does not end in bot)
  • The token generated when it is created
  • The chat ID of the group you created with the group, don't forget the - and since several will appear, choose the one from the group, not directly the one from the bot

If you added the bot to the group before writing anything to it, you need to remove it from the group, write to it, and then add it again; otherwise, you won't be able to see the chat ID.
