Define your technical terms once, and the module will detect them across product pages, CMS, categories, manufacturers, and blog, highlighting them and displaying their definitions on hover or tap. It includes an A-Z glossary page with a dedicated page for each term, 23 style themes, statistics, and optional AI with pre-screening.

Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7.8 to 9.2 (Classic and Hummingbird). Rekire module, tested in real stores.

Glossary with emerging definitions

Your customers don't buy what they don't understand. Explain it to them without taking them away from the product information sheet.

Materials, ingredients, acronyms, regulations: your catalog is full of words that you understand and your client doesn't. RKR Glossary Tooltip It lets you define each term only once, detects it only in your texts, underlines it and shows its definition when you hover or touch it, and also creates an A-Z glossary page with its own page for each term.

23 topics
Style for tooltips, with live preview in Theme Studio
9 effects
appearance and 5 positions (automatic, up, down, left and right)
6 suppliers
Optional AI tools: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, and any service compatible with OpenAI

/ You define the term once; it appears everywhere

You register the term with its definition and synonyms. The module searches for it in product descriptions, CMS pages, categories, manufacturers, and blog articles, and highlights it without altering the text stored in the database.

Detection with criteria
The longest term wins ("Shea butter" rather than "Butter"), with options for full word, distinguishing capital letters, underlining only the first occurrence, and setting a maximum per term and per page.
Zones and exclusions tailored to your needs
You choose which areas it applies to, and you can add CSS selectors to include or exclude, as well as words that are never underlined. It works in Classic and Hummingbird, and also on Classic CMS pages.
Manual shortcut
Writes [rkrgl:término] within a content and becomes a real link to the term's page.
Formatted definitions
The long definition is written using the rich text editor, and the formatting is saved and displayed in the tooltip and on the term page.

/ A tooltip that can be used with a mouse, keyboard, and finger.

Hover your mouse over the definition; on mobile, simply tap. The tooltip is also controlled with the keyboard and closes without losing your place on the page. You decide what it displays: excerpt, image, category, synonyms, number of related products, and a link to read more.

Enriched content by term
Each term can display a Wikipedia summary (stored on your server for 24 hours), a YouTube or Vimeo video, or the content of an external URL.
Fine-tuning
Appearance and closing delay, maximum width, extract length, and underline style (dotted, dashed, continuous, double, or highlighted).
Respect those who don't want animations
If the visitor has motion reduction enabled on their device, the module takes this into account.

/ A glossary page that Google can read

The module generates a server-side rendered A-Z glossary with a text bar, category filter, search function, and pagination, as well as a dedicated page for each term with its definition, synonyms, "see also" list, and related products. Each term becomes part of your store's content and an internal link to your product listings.

Technical SEO
Friendly URLs, canonical tags, configurable robots tags, meta tags per term and default meta tags with bookmarks ({term}, , {shop}, , {category}), structured data DefinedTermSet / DefinedTerm and registration in the native PrestaShop 8 and 9 sitemap.
Related products
You link each term to the products you want, and the term's page displays them.
Widget for your homepage
A block of terms for the home page or side columns, sorted by popularity, by novelty, or alphabetically, with the number of terms and the title you choose.

/ Fast even if you have hundreds of terms

The dictionary can be served embedded in the page, on demand when needed, or in hybrid mode: embedded on the first visits to the homepage, product pages, and CMS, and on demand on subsequent visits. It is cached by store and language.

/ Version improvements 1.2.0

Permissions by employee profile
Each back-office profile only sees and does what you have allowed it to: view, create, edit, or delete.
Private pre-import copies
Before each confirmed import, a copy of your data is saved offline. From the dashboard, you can download or restore it, and you can keep the latest versions you choose.
Import without losing what you already have
Importing a file does not delete terms that are not included in it.
One style sheet per store
In a multi-store setup, each store has its own CSS generated with its design, without overriding the others.
Formatted definitions that are saved
The definition format is no longer lost when saving.
Accessible with keyboard and touchscreen
The tooltip responds to keyboard and touch input, as well as mouse input.

/ A design worthy of your store

Theme Studio includes 23 themes with live preview, allowing you to adjust colors and typography and add your own CSS. CSS variables are written to a generated stylesheet, so design changes don't affect the theme files.

/ Knowing which terms are actually read

The statistics track six types of events: tooltip clicks, term clicks, "read more" clicks, glossary visits, visits to a term's page, and clicks on related products. You can view them by day, store, language, and term, with custom SVG charts, and the module purges old historical data using cron. The public statistics counter has a definite limit on requests per IP address and time.

/ Optional AI that drafts documents, never publishes on its own

It's optional and disabled by default. With your own key, you can request a definition, synonyms, SEO metadata, a suggested category, or a translation draft. Each result is placed in a review queue where you compare the current version with the draft and approve or reject it. With one click, you can queue a job for each term that lacks that content; the batch process doesn't hang, and the translation starts from the store's default language. Keys are stored encrypted, and referring URLs are downloaded with SSRF protection.

/ Import, export, and test

CSV and JSON
CSV file with one row per term and columns per language, with a preview showing what each line would do before you confirm. A complete JSON copy of categories, terms, and relationships is also provided. Secrets are never exported.
Demonstration data
Install them to see the results in minutes and remove them with a button whenever you want.
Health report
A tally of undefined terms, duplicate identifiers, uncategorized terms, and error-ridden AI jobs.

/ Languages

Spanish and English are fully translated. French, Portuguese, German, and Italian are partially translated: in these four languages, the front end (what your customer sees) is fully translated, and some back-office screens appear in English. Any string can be translated directly from within PrestaShop.

What it doesn't do. The module doesn't invent terms: the list is the one you define (or the one approved by AI, if you enable it). And the tooltips are rendered by JavaScript in the browser, so they don't appear on pages viewed without JavaScript; the glossary page and the term pages, however, are generated on the server.

/ What worries you

Without dependencies
It uses its own JavaScript, without external libraries or CDNs, and without Composer. If a working folder is unwritable, the module reverts to default styles instead of breaking.
Security
PrestaShop token in forms and AJAX calls, authenticated employee with permission in the back-office, secret key in the cron, sanitized HTML and encrypted API keys.
What is sent to the AI?
Only if you activate it and for the term you request, from the provider you have chosen.
License
AFL-3.0.

Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7.8 to 9.2 and PHP 7.1 to 8.3

v1.2.0

Full review of 1.1.0 before its release.

Fixed

  • Term definitions and category descriptions lost all their HTML on save (bold, lists, paragraphs, links): they are stored as HTML again, from the form, the import and the AI drafts.
  • Saving a term or a category no longer empties the texts of inactive languages.
  • Back-office permissions: every action now checks the profile permission of the employee (view, edit, delete). Before, an employee allowed only to view a tab could reset the module, import or change AI keys.
  • Pre-import backups were written to a public folder of the module: they now live in a private folder ( var/modules/rkrglossarytooltip ), with a random name, per shop, and can be downloaded and restored from the Transfer panel. Backups and caches of 1.1.0 are moved/removed by the upgrade.
  • Import: a column missing from the file no longer erases that field, and languages not present in the file keep their texts. JSON imports match terms by slug in the destination shop (never by the id of another shop) and only link products that exist in that shop. Custom CSS and image URLs of an import are sanitized. CSV exports are protected against spreadsheet formulas.
  • Demo data: "Uninstall demo data" no longer deletes merchant terms that happen to share a slug with a demo term, nor categories that still hold merchant terms.
  • Automatic detection did not work in Hummingbird (PrestaShop 9) nor in the CMS pages of Classic: new selectors for product, category, CMS and brand pages of both themes.
  • Tooltip in lazy/hybrid mode came out broken (unclosed attribute). Whole word matching now respects accented letters ("mica" no longer matches inside "ceramica"). An invalid custom selector no longer disables all the others.
  • Tooltip accessibility: keyboard (focus, Enter/Space, Escape), touch with real pointer events (first tap opens, second tap follows the link), scroll inside long cards, above sticky headers, content loaded later by AJAX (quick view) is linked too.
  • Glossary page: switching language on a term page sends to the slug of that language (it was a 404), and the hreflang links point to each language's slug. Letter and category views keep their filter in the canonical, the search results are noindex, accented initials work, a disabled glossary answers 404, the index meta description never shows {term} placeholders.
  • Glossary page: the category counters no longer widen the page on mobile.
  • Back office: the module title is readable on the dark header and the Theme Studio names the theme really selected.
  • Related products hidden from the catalog (visibility "none" or "search") no longer appear.
  • Public endpoint: the per-IP rate limit actually works (file counter), the statistics beacon only counts existing active terms, Wikipedia misses are cached for one hour, "Read more" is no longer counted twice.
  • The dictionary cache is refreshed when any setting, category or product link changes; it no longer writes a cookie on every page in hybrid mode.
  • Multistore: one generated stylesheet per shop (the last saved shop imposed its theme on all), and the back-office asks to select a shop instead of silently editing the default one.
  • AI: jobs interrupted by a PHP timeout no longer stay "running" forever; batches advance in draft mode from the cron; no duplicate jobs; translation reads the source text from the default language; reasoning models (o1/o3/o4/gpt-5) and web search are called with the parameters they accept; private and internal addresses are refused for reference URLs (SSRF); the stored key is cleared when the provider endpoint changes host.
  • Theme variables can no longer inject CSS rules.
  • Sitemap: integration through the Google sitemap module (gsitemap); the actionCronJob hook passes the module and declares its frequency.
  • Wikipedia language empty by default = language of each page.
  • JavaScript error "tinySetup is not defined" in the back office.
