Special tax on plastic packaging
Are you a taxpayer subject to the plastic tax, or do you just need to keep track of it? Knowing this is half the battle.
The tax under Law 7/2022 is paid by the manufacturer, the intra-community acquirer or the importer, and only the first two submit Form 592. RKR Plastic Packaging Tax It asks you who you are and where the plastic for each product comes from, records each order in the logbook, and leaves you the draft of form 592 ready for review.
/ First, who pays: the module doesn't treat everyone equally
The tax is paid by manufacturer, in its first installment in Spain; the intra-community acquirer, for the acquisition; and the importer, at customs. Only the first two present Form 592. A store that buys from Spanish suppliers is not a taxpayerThe supplier has already paid.
That's why you choose your profile (manufacturer, intra-community acquirer, both, or non-taxpayer) and, for each product, the origin of the plastic: manufactured by you, acquired in the EU, purchased in Spain, or imported. With both of these elements, each order line item receives its corresponding status: taxable base, deduction, exempt, or simply a stock movement.
/ The plastic of each product and combination
For each product and each combination, you indicate the total plastic, the certified recycled plastic (UNE-EN 15343), the units per pack, the type of packaging (AEAT code a, b or c), the origin and, if applicable, the exemption with its article: 73.a to 73.d and 75.a to 75.g. Exemptions always include their corresponding article of law, not invented labels.
/ A self-filling logbook
Every paid order, every payment (with its own lines and amounts), and every cancellation is recorded in the ledger. Combinations, partial refunds, and repeat notifications are handled properly, and the presented periods are left untouched.
/ The draft of Model 592, by period
For each period and store, the module calculates the following in the order of Annex I: quantity, taxable base (kg of non-recycled plastic), rate, gross tax liability, deductions under Article 80, compensation for previous periods (Article 80.3), and result. The tax liability is calculated on the total kg for the entire period, not line by line. For intra-Community acquisitions, the 5 kg per month exemption applies (Article 75.f).
Customer returns are only deducted when the merchandise is destroyed or returned to manufacturing (this is a setting you activate) and remain of the fee. You have the draft in PDF format to review.
About the presentation: The module prepares the draft, the PDF, and the book; it does not submit anything to the AEAT (Spanish Tax Agency).. Filing Form 592 remains the taxpayer's responsibility, along with their certificate. When you mark a period as filed, it is considered closed: its entries are not recalculated or edited, and any corrections are applied to the current period. Consult your advisor about your specific situation; the module does not replace their consultation.
/ Details from article 82.9 on your invoices
If you manufacture, the invoice includes the quota, the kg and the exemption article (art. 82.9.a). If you are another seller and your customer asks you for the certificate, you can print the details of the article. 82.9.b. The amount is shown on the invoice, It is not added to the total order..
/ Notifications and automation
/ What worries you
/ Designed for shops that handle plastic packaging in Spain
If you manufacture or import products with plastic packaging from the EU, you have the draft of form 592 and the ledger without spreadsheets. If you only buy from Spanish suppliers, you keep a record of the plastic and the data your customers request on invoices.

Questions and answers
