The customer should request an invoice when purchasing and the data should be correct: a "Request invoice" switch with Individual, Self-employed or Company that requests only what each type needs, with the NIF, NIE or CIF verified before paying (check digit, VIES for European VAT and Tax Office with electronic certificate, optional).

Mandatory full invoice by amount (€400 factory minimum) or by customer group, fixed billing address for dropshipping, data blocked after the first invoiced order with a change request from My Account, one VAT number per account without revealing the other (GDPR), and the label "SIMPLIFIED INVOICE" on the PDF. Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7.8 to 9.x , in multi-step checkout and in the PrestaShop 9.2 one-page checkout, without overrides.

Billing and tax information

Every incorrectly issued invoice is work that comes back to you.

The customer makes a mistake in the tax identification number, requests an invoice when the order has already been paid for, or changes their details after the order has been placed. RKR Billing Information It collects the data well at checkout: it asks if you want an invoice, checks the VAT number before paying, and lets you decide what can be changed later.

3 types of customer
Individual, self-employed and company: the form only asks for what each one needs.
3 NIF checks
format and control digit, VIES for European VAT and Tax Agency (AEAT), the latter optional
1.7.8 → 9.x
with the multi-step checkout and the single-page checkout of PrestaShop 9.2, without overrides

/ The customer decides if they want an invoice, and only sees what they need.

The switch appears below the address. "Request an invoice". If the customer leaves it off, they are not asked for any tax information and are informed that they will receive a simplified invoice. If they turn it on, they choose what it is and the form adapts accordingly.

Particular
Name and ID/Tax ID/Foreigner's ID. You can leave the document as optional for individuals.
Autonomous
Name, NIF or NIE and, if desired, trade name.
Company
Company name and VAT number or tax identification number.

If the country of the address already requires a "Tax Identification Number" (as is the case in Spain), individuals and the self-employed use that same field: the NIF is not requested twice. With "I want to use a different billing address," the switch toggles the billing address. And you can offer only the types that interest you: if you sell exclusively to businesses, you disable the other two.

The NIF is stored where your billing program or ERP reads it: in the "VAT Number" field (as it comes), in the "Identification Number" field, or in both at the same time.

/ An incorrectly written tax identification number (NIF) is detected before payment.

The verification happens when you save the address, with the customer present, and not when you are already issuing the invoice.

Format and check digit
Spanish NIF, NIE, and CIF with their letter or control digit, Portuguese NIF, and the VAT number format for each EU country. A company CIF is not valid as a tax identification number for a self-employed individual or private citizen, and the message explains why.
VIES, for European VAT
Check the VAT numbers of companies in other EU countries on the European Commission's public service. No registration or subscription required.
Tax Agency (AEAT), optional
Confirm that the tax identification number (NIF) corresponds to the name or company name. You will need the electronic certificate of the company or its representative (.p12, .pfx or .pem), which is stored encrypted in the database and never as a file on the website.
Outside the EU, without complicating the purchase
A reasonable identifier is sufficient: the foreign client is not asked for proof that he cannot provide.

You choose what happens if the service says the number is invalid (reject the data, or accept it and mark the order for review) and what happens if the service doesn't respond (accept, with the format already verified, or reject). Responses are saved for 30 days if valid and 1 day if not, to avoid repeating the query. In the settings, you have a NIF tester that checks the format, tax authority (Hacienda), and VIES without using that memory, to confirm that your certificate works before making it available to clients.

/ Full invoice required when due

Some orders don't qualify for a simplified invoice. You can request a full invoice based on the total amount, the customer group, or both.

For the amount
The price starts from the amount you enter, including VAT: €400 factory price, which is the limit for simplified invoices in Spain, and you can change this because some activities have a different limit. The amount is converted to the currency of the shopping cart.
By customer group
Brands, for example, your professional or wholesale clients, and they are always asked for a full invoice.

When the shopping cart requires it, the switch turns on automatically and the customer cannot turn it off. In multi-step checkouts, the address entry step prevents the customer from proceeding until the information is complete; in single-page checkouts, a warning appears on the checkout page itself with the amount due, the address is not saved without valid tax information, and if the order is placed with an incomplete, outdated address, it is flagged for review before invoicing. If an order requiring a full invoice arrives without the missing information, it is marked on the order and you receive a private message to review it before invoicing.

/ Dropshipping: billing is always sent to the same address.

For customers who ship to multiple addresses but always use the same billing address, the billing address remains fixed and applies to all orders, regardless of the delivery address. You choose who sets it:

The customer chooses it.
From My Account → Billing Information.
Automatic
The first address used for billing with complete details.

/ Data locked after the first order, without disrupting your ERP

If a customer changes their company name or tax ID number after you've already invoiced them, your ERP system and invoices will no longer match. With the blocking feature activated, as soon as an invoice is issued with complete data:

The client cannot edit or delete that address.
Neither from My Addresses nor from a page's checkout.
You can request a change
From My Account → Billing Details, write what you want to change and the request will go to your store's Customer Service.
You unlock it
In the customer's profile: unlock, block another address, or set or remove the usual address. In Customers → Billing Information, you can see at a glance who has a usual address, blocked information, or a pending change.

The block does not apply to customers who purchase as guests.

/ One tax identification number per account, without counting anything else

If you enable "Do not allow NIFs used in another account", a customer who enters a NIF that is already in another account will not be able to use it, and He is not told that this other account exists.Due to GDPR regulations, this information is not disclosed. You are asked to contact your store to review your details. You can specify the tax identification numbers (NIFs) that can be repeated (for example, a company whose employees purchase using their own accounts), and accounts with the same email address are not counted, because a returning guest is the same person.

/ Clear notices, so no one complains later

Simplified invoice
When an invoice is not requested, or the data is incomplete, the customer is notified that they will receive a simplified invoice.
The data cannot be changed
A reminder that once the order is placed, you will not be able to edit them.
Confirmation box
Optional, alongside the sales conditions: "I have reviewed my billing information."

/ What you see in the back office

In the order
If it was issued with full or simplified invoice data, with what data, what the NIF verification said and, if a full invoice was needed and data was missing, a warning and a private message.
In the invoice PDF
The label "SIMPLIFIED INVOICE" appears on orders with incomplete information. This can be deactivated.
In the customer record
Its addresses with the invoice type, the status of the VAT verification and the buttons to lock, unlock and set the usual one.
In Customers → Billing Information
The list of customers with regular address, blocked data, or a pending change.

The tax decision is yours. The module collects the data and marks each order as a full or simplified invoice, but It does not manage the numbering series Regarding simplified invoices: in Spain, they must be in their own series, which you manage in your invoicing software. €400 is the limit for simplified invoices in Spain (VAT included); however, this limit may vary for some business activities, so the amount can be adjusted.

/ You install it and your checkout doesn't change until you decide to.

Upon installation, the module simply adds the "Request invoice" switch and verifies the customer's tax ID number (NIF). Rules that modify the checkout process (full invoice by amount, blocking, fixed address, one NIF per account) are disabled by default: you enable them knowingly from Modules → RKR Billing Data → Configure. It doesn't use overrides or modify theme or checkout templates, and it works with Classic, Hummingbird, and their derived themes.

/ GDPR and uninstallation

The data stored by the module (billing type for each address, check result, default address, and blocking status) is exported and deleted using PrestaShop's official GDPR module. The record of how each order was billed is retained, as it constitutes billing information. Uninstalling the module deletes all tables and settings, including this record; however, your customers' addresses remain untouched.

v1.0.1

  • One-page checkout: With an order exceeding the mandatory invoice amount and a saved address marked "I don't need an invoice," the payment used to go through (the ID requested by the system was mistaken for a personal tax ID) and the order was marked as simplified. Now it's rejected with a warning. A saved address paid as is uses the saved invoice type.
  • A customer who was manually blocked from their profile, with the general blocking turned off, could delete their blocked billing address.
  • My Account > Billing Details: After logging in, you will be redirected to that page, not to My Account.
  • The record of each order saves the date of the order.

  • Fixed billing address (dropshipping), chosen by the customer or automatic.
